I am a mixed kid growing up in Hong Kong, which is a mostly Chinese community, with a Japanese name. My experience was that some culturally insensitive teachers would just give up on comprehending my name and just call me 'the Japanese guy'. It is so disturbing that no matter how hard I try to blend into the community, but because of my name, people would expect me to be different, to be Japanese, to be 120% punctual, to be 120% polite, to have japanese food everyday. I just hate it.
