This is a really an impressive article, smart observation and deep analysis all at once, this article definitely deserves more readers. I think Canva has definitely made graphic design more accessible, and one could definitely say with Canva, graphic design could now be a no brainer tasks for a lot of people. But the lack of innovation of the platform is so concerning especially I personally live in Hong Kong so I feel it so well. Basically it is that on Canva there's such limited choice for Chinese fonts that you recognize someone's using Canva when you spot those specific few fonts. I definitely would praise Canva's ability in 'democratizing' design skills. But there is definitely an urgent need in the platform to bring in new design and fonts, and to incorporate more and more design talents and perspectives from the design community for everyone's use. Or else, Canva would be nothing but a cheap tool to devalue the precious value of the design industry. We deserve a better design platform, designers deserve better respect and publicity, and our society deserve better designs.
